Program Details — Master of Science in Data Science (MScDS)

The MScDS is normally a two-year program providing solid knowledge, techniques and experience in research and application of data science. Students choose either a Graduate Project option (industry/applied) or Graduate Thesis option (research). The program builds on TRU's Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Computing Science, and the Centre for Optimization and Decision Science, integrating mathematical modelling, optimization, machine learning, data mining and applied statistics.

Acceptable four-year bachelor degree or equivalent in science or related discipline with minimum average in last 60 credits of B (GPA 3.00/4.33) for project option or B+ (GPA 3.33) for thesis option; strong background in Statistics and Computing Science. English: TOEFL 570 (TWE 4.5) / iBT 88 (no section below 20) / IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0) / CAEL 70. Two letters of reference; official transcripts. Thesis option requires confirmed faculty supervisor.

Total international tuition for the program is $51,186 CAD (2026-2027), i.e. approximately $25,593 CAD per year over two years. Excludes general fees, health fees and materials.
