Program Overview

The Department of Computer Science offers research-focused graduate study including the Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science thesis option (5 classes, 2 seminar presentations and a thesis reporting original research; recommended for students planning to pursue a PhD) and an MSc project option (7 classes, 2 seminars and a project report). Normal duration is 2 years (6 terms) full time, or twice as long part time. Major research areas include Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science and Data Analytics, Human-Centred Computing, Software Engineering, Systems/Communication & Cybersecurity, and Theoretical Computer Science. A Co-op designation is available with MSc programs. (Note: the professionally-focused course-based MSc streams in Data Science and Human-Centred Computing are currently under review and not accepting new students.)

Admission Requirements

Apply to the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research and meet graduate eligibility requirements (an appropriate undergraduate degree in computer science or a related field). Graduate English Language Proficiency: IELTS Academic overall 6.5.
